Lawrence Alexander
Lawrence Alexander is a third-year PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Film and Screen. His research focuses on the theme of ‘face value’ in the moving image practices of Harun Farocki, Hito Steyerl and William Kentridge. He is the recipient of a studentship jointly hosted by the Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership and Churchill College

Delving into the notion of the desktop as an archival site and methodology, this contribution presents two divergent outputs resulting from collaboration between the participants and co-conveners of the Academy workshop “Desktop Shortcuts”: an in-development simplified database of hyperlinks, and a poetic game of disorder.
